Report: Iranian attack on UAE thwarted

Authorities in the UAE have in recent days arrested two terrorist squads of Revolutionary Guardsmen in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, News 12 reported last night (Sunday).

According to the report, squad members, members of the Revolutionary Guards’ Quds Force, planned to carry out attacks in the United Arab Emirates. It is further reported that the state suspects that the detainees planned a revenge attack in response to the assassination of the Quds Force commander of the Revolutionary Guards, General Qassem Suleimani.

The Qatari newspaper al-Arabi al-Jadid quoted sources as saying that the United Arab Emirates was very concerned about an Iranian attack on the ground, in response to the assassination of Fahrizadeh. It was further alleged that Dubai contacted Tehran to ensure that there would be no such action.

Yesterday, the commander of the Revolutionary Guards, Hussein Salami, threatened that Iran would avenge the blood of the assassinated general. “We are ready to take the path of revenge on Suleimani’s blood and free the Muslims from the cultural, political and economic control of the West and the wicked United States,” Salami told reporters during a special meeting of Revolutionary Guards leaders on the occasion of the year of assassination.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also threatened retaliation for Suleimani’s assassination, saying: “The nations of the entire region and the Iranian nation will avenge Suleimani’s death at a time and place appropriate. Trump will be remembered in history as a despicable man for the crimes and atrocities he committed. Only damage to the enemy “
