Report in India: Jaish al-Hind claimed responsibility for the blast in New Delhi

Indian media reported that Jaish al-Hind had claimed responsibility for the bombing, which exploded near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi. Police investigators in the country located messages on the telegram channels in which a notice of responsibility for the organization appeared. The announcement did not mention Israel’s name at all, and said that the attack was revenge against the Indian government and that further attacks were expected.

There were no casualties in an explosion in the Indian capital yesterday afternoon, but several vehicles parked there were damaged.

Walla reported that Indian police investigators who were checking the security camera footage located two suspects who got out of a taxi near the area where the charge was planted. The taxi driver was questioned and drew clusters of the two suspects. The investigation revealed that the charge was buried in a beverage can containing explosives and metal pellets.

A letter was reportedly found near the payload stating that “this is just the opening,” in addition to the names of Quds Force commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Qassem Suleimani, who was assassinated by the United States about a year ago, and senior Iranian nuclear scientist Muhsin Fahrizadeh, who was also killed in November 27, 2020 while driving an armored car accompanied by his security guards.

At the same time, CNN India reported that police investigators located an envelope with the caption “For the Israeli embassy” at the scene of the explosion.

Israeli Ambassador to India Ron Malka said last night in an interview with Channel 12 that in Israel and India the explosion was treated as a security incident, and it was examined whether the embassy was the target. “We are not surprised, we know we are a target for the enemy,” Malka said, noting that the incident took place exactly at the time when the workers were due to leave the embassy.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi spoke with his Indian counterpart, who promised that the Indian authorities would guarantee the security of the Israeli emissaries and would continue to act resolutely to locate all those involved in the explosion.
