Jose Rodriguez could have been the face of Real Madrid. He received the credit from Jose Mourinho somewhere in 2012/13, but eight years later he found himself at Maccabi Haifa. The connection is leading the Greens to their first championship in a decade and in an interview with Marca he does not really look back.
“I made a mistake and changed agents, now I have returned to my old agents and I am rebuilding my career,” Rodriguez admitted and reported to the Spanish public: “I am in a good project at Maccabi Haifa, I am happy and things are going well.”
This interview, in fact, was published as part of Real’s preparations for the King’s Cup match against Alciano, rival Molla Rodriguez made the premiere and he was asked about his relationship with the special. “There was love between us. I do not know how to describe it, but it was a special feeling. Mourinho helped me a lot and believed in me.”
And at the beginning of the season, Mourinho and Rodriguez met again, when Maccabi Haifa absorbed 7: 2 from Tottenham in the playoffs and promotion to the home stage of the Europa League. “He stopped me in the middle of the warm-up to say hello. We talked at length and all he cared about was how I was doing in life. He only talked to me about football when he told me Tottenham were going to defeat us and it really happened.”
