Rebel Wilson says it was decorated from an early age to host the new ‘Pooch Perfect’ series

If Rebel Wilson hasn’t engaged in acting, she might be involved in the world of dog shows.

Now, in what feels like a perfect hybrid to her, Wilson offers hospitality and action output Perfect pooch, a dog competition series for dogs.

The show features the best pet stylists in the country who, along with their assistants, complete a series of challenges. There are two challenges each week – the “Immunity Pup-pertunity,” and the “Ulti-Mutt” Challenge Showdown – in which stylists must create magical transformations. One team is eliminated each week, all of which lead up to the final competition for the nominations Perfect pooch prize and big money prize.

Judges include Lisa Vanderpump from the reality series The real housewives of Beverly Hills, Musician-in-Chief Jorge Bendersky, and Veterinarian Dr. Callie Harris

Explaining her family history in this area, Wilson says, “So I guess what a lot of people don’t know about me is that I’m a fourth generation dog show. My great grandmother started the “Australian Beagle Club,” and every weekend of my childhood I went to dog shows. ”

She said, “I was personally a young handler and showed dogs and wedding dogs. “So dogs have been such a big part of my life.”

The family also sold dog decorations, says Wilson, who admits, “My mother was devastated when I chose not to follow the family legacy. She is now an internationally acclaimed dog show judge. ”

It was hard to tell mum she wasn’t going to follow in her footsteps, Wilson said, “When I told her I wasn’t going to continue in the family business and try to be a movie star between -national, she shouted. I had to tell her in a public place so she wouldn’t do anything too crazy. But, yeah, I guess she’s okay with it now. ”

Hosting the show, Wilson says, “it’s kind of like coming full circle.”

But then she reveals a twist in her story, saying, “I have a real allergy to dogs,” then she finishes the sentence, laughing along the way as she says , “So that is, my childhood, you know, there’s a little bit of tragedy in there too. ”

Regarding the show in particular she says, “I’m a huge fan of reality TV, but my work on this show is a little different, [as I’m bringing] the comedy in the show. ”

Wilson says that comedy is ‘her skill set’ and that she spends a lot of time behind the scenes working out her humor.

And, she also does what she says as ‘dogography’ in the show, “that’s a new term that I coined where we are, basically, decorating the [production assistants] up in dog clothes, and then I worked out little dances [for them]. ”

Another element behind the scenes is that Wilson is proud of the area she calls ‘Doggyland.’

“It’s, like, this amazing playground. Treats are well received. He gets all those actions for the dogs, and that’s where the dogs would hang out. This was their literal green room at the studios where we were filmed. ”

She laughs a little as she says, “They were treated better than me and the judges, to be honest. ”

After announcing 2020 as the ‘Year of Health,’ Wilson is open to talking about the work she’s done in that area, “I mean, I’ve been posting it on Instagram a little before shame. In fact, I feel great, I’ve lost 60 pounds. ”

Getting two unique outfits per program, which she chooses with a stylist, allows her to show off her new body in its entirety, Wilson says. “So, yeah, this is my chance right now to just put it out there.”

The fact is that Wilson also wants viewers to know about the show, “We are a show that 70 per cent of our team is on the LGBTQ spectrum. So, in terms of inclusion, I believe our show is probably one of the most inclusive on network television. It’s something I’m proud of. ”

Overall, Wilson says everyone is involved Perfect pooch, in front of and behind the camera “they love dogs and people who just care about their pets.”

‘Pooch Perfect’ will be played on Tuesday at 8 / 7c on ABC
