With this in mind, Blumenthal and her colleagues decided to record all sensory reactions, including anaphylaxis, once they began vaccinating workers at Mass General Brigham. The team analyzed staff studies to estimate the frequency of allergic reactions after mRNA vaccines and used several diagnostic methods to identify the true frequency of anaphylaxis.

Among 52,805 employees (including an estimated 4,000 with severe allergies to food and medications) surveyed after receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine, 2% re- sensory impairment, and anaphylaxis at a rate of 2.47 per 10,000 people. . “To put this in perspective, this is largely in contrast to anaphylactic reactions from common antibiotics,” Blumenthal said.
