The Spanish league is entering its last line. Only ten rounds remain until the end of the season – 30 points remain at the box office. Atletico Madrid leads La Liga with 66 points, followed by Barcelona with 62 and Real Madrid third with 60 points. Before the final rounds, here’s what’s left for all the teams, and also the key players.
Atletico Madrid: A favorite that is an underdog
The leader is facing a very tough game against Sevilla IV away in the next round, when she will then play again against an Andalusian team, Betis away. The Colchoneros will continue to play against Huesca, Athletic Bilbao, Eibar and Elche, and then head out to the Camp Nou for a crucial game against Barcelona in the 35th round. In the next round the champion will host Eibar, followed by a home Clasico between the quarter-finals of the Champions League, followed by Cadis away, Betis at home, Hattafa, Ossona, Sevilla (home), Granada, Bilbao away in the penultimate round and Villarreal at home in the closing round.
Key player: Karim Benzema
The Frenchman is in simply fantastic shape, perhaps the best of his career, and in recent games has scored doubles that have left Zinedine Zidane strong in the picture. The Blancos star has played a big part in the team’s revival in recent times, scoring in each of the last 6 games in all competitions (his best streak in recent years) and thanks to him the team has won 8 of its last 10 games. The Frenchman even saved the team from a derby loss in the final minutes, and in the final rounds Real depends mainly on him.
