If you’ve ever wanted to see Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright, say things like “Grilled cheese is NOT the same thing as melting, and I’ll report you to the FBI if you keep out the criticism this, you might love this bot, by 24-year-old software engineer Micah Price. He picks up arguments from Reddit, which are often about as young and famous as you can get, and puts them in the mouths of Wright and Edgeworth, in a court case.
To use the bot, simply add “! Objectionbot” as an idea of the thread you want to turn to Ace Attorney discussion, and then the bot will scan the thread, turn it to YouTube video, and provide the link in response. If a particular comment has many comments, or if the bot thinks it is negative, the “Complaint” graphic will appear.
The project took Price about three days to compile in Python, and uses a lot of machine learning libraries to find out what negativity looks like. The source code is open source, so if anyone wants to tinkering with it, you can access it on GitHub. It costs $ 10 a month to maintain and run the bot, so he told Mashable in an interview that he may be “just giving it up” after a while.
