Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted his side could be better at the back, with a move for a new defender a priority in the forthcoming window

With the end of the season fast approaching, Manchester United have begun planning for their next campaign and how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can take his team from title opponents to real competitors.

Manchester City are expected to run away with the 2020-21 Premier League cup but United’s results – and some of their achievements – have shown this season that perhaps with two or three tweaks what they have could takes to push right for the main spot.

There are arguments for strengthening in a number of positions but, with Covid-19 having a financial impact, it appears the club may not be able to fund all of their targets.

Central back is one of the top priorities. Victor Lindelof has caught fire for what he did a few weeks ago and there is not enough depth in the situation.

Solskjaer admitted ahead of his case against Chelsea this weekend that he wants to see defensive improvements from the entire team.

“We know we have achieved a lot of goals and of course we need to be a better defensive team,” Solskjaer said. “We’ve taken on too many goals so we need to improve on that and win tougher games.”
