Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 have been released for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Rex is unlikely to be a producer of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
When the fights pass Vol. Originally named 1, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 seemed to be absent from Smash in terms of character representation as it was reported that Rex would get Mii ‘s suit parts instead.
Pyra and Mythra seem to act as a two-in-one hero, similar to how Zelda and Sheik worked in Super Smash Bros. Melee. As mentioned by Rex, the two can move freely between each other at games.
Switching between Pyra and Mythra gives the player some incredible time during the turn, just like with Pokémon Swiner Pokémon Swap down special.
While Pyra uses flame-powered attacks, Mythra uses light-based attacks. Mythra also has a ability called “Foresight” which seems to act as a counter of sorts.
When Foresight is activated, Mythra moves to another location and slows down the opponent. Based on what’s featured in the trailer, it looks like it works very similar to Bayonetta’s witchcraft era.
Some of Pyra’s attacks include Smash Flare, Flame Nova, Prominence Revolt and Blazing End. Meanwhile, Mythra has access to Lightning Buster, Photon Edge, Ray of Punishment and Chroma Dust.
It is revealed during the trailer that Pyra is intended to be a “true firepower” while Mythra is “blowing speed.” This seems to mean that Pyra may be better suited for scoring an output as she may have more KO power than Mythra.
While this once again proves Rex as a playable hero, he does appear during Pyra and Mythra’s Final Thought. The Final Smash seems to have different characteristics based on which character it starts with.
The Challenger 9 Pack is scheduled to release sometime in March 2021.
