Prince Philip was transferred for further examination

Concern in the kingdom: 99-year-old Prince Philip was transferred yesterday (Monday) to St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London for another series of tests. As you may recall, for the past two weeks Queen Elizabeth’s husband has been hospitalized following a heart infection.

A statement from Buckingham Palace said Philip, who will celebrate his 100th birthday in June, is expected to remain in custody for at least another week. The hospital to which the prince was transferred is known as the Heart Disease Center located there. Prince Charles, who visited him over the weekend, said on his departure that his father was feeling “much better” and thanked the public for his support.

Prince Philip, also known as Duke of Edinburgh, is the husband of the Queen of England, Elizabeth. The two married in 1947, after a year of secret engagements. The two have remained close ever since and often appear in public together. Philip, a Greek prince, was required to convert his religion from Orthodox Christianity to Anglicanism before marriage.

In 2019, Philip was lightly injured in a car accident in which he was involved while driving near the Royal Estate in Sandringham. Following the accident, the prince waived his driver’s license.
