Prince Harry tells Oprah that he was worried that history would repeat itself

LOS ANGELES, February 28 (Reuters) – Prince Harry, who surprised Britain last year when he and his wife Meghan stepped back from royal duties, told US interviewer Oprah Winfrey he was worried about history repeats itself, according to excerpts published Sunday.

CBS broadcast network released two short excerpts from the couple’s Winfrey interview, which is scheduled to air on March 7th. This is the first TV interview given by the couple, formally known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, since they made their homes. California last year.

“My biggest concern was history repeating itself,” Harry said, apparently referring to his mother Princess Diana, who was circulated by reporters British and died at the age of 36 in a car crash in Paris after his divorce from Prince Charles.

Harry, 36, was sitting next to Meghan, 39, with her hand. The couple announced this month that they are expecting their second child.

“I’m just really relieved and happy to sit and talk to you with my wife by my side,” said Harry. “Because I can’t imagine what it was like for her (Diana), going through This process alone years ago.

“It’s been incredibly difficult for both of us, but at least we were together,” Harry said.

In the clips, Winfrey said that no subject was boundless and at one point he tells the couple “you’ve said some really horrible things here,” implying that their situation has been “almost inevitable.”

Prior to moving to California, the couple had complained about the handling of the British tabloids by Meghan, who has a white father and a mother from African American, some of whom they alleged were bullied or racist.

Earlier this month, Buckingham Palace announced that the couple would not return to their lives as working members of the royal family. (Reporting by Lisa Richwine; edited by Jonathan Oatis)
