New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has tested positive for coronavirus and has been placed on the asylum / COVID-19 list.
Kamara will be out for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers and his postseason potential – at least for the wild card round – is now in question.
The running back star, who was coming off a six-a-side tour on Christmas Day against the Minnesota Vikings, had mixed results on Friday afternoon’s tests, but a later test confirmed he is positive for COVID-19, ESPN recitation.
The Saints have won a NFC South title and are likely to host a playoff game this weekend if it doesn’t go up to the main seed of the conference.
“If Saints RB Alvin Kamara is still asymptomatic and getting a medical permit, he could play in a wild card game next Sunday, January 10 – but not next Saturday, January 9, I’m told,” NFL NetworkTom Pelissero reported on Twitter.

“So Kamara may have a chance for the New Orleans playoff opener coming to an NFL schedule decision.”
New Orleans (11-4) can only capture the No. 1 seed – and the first blessing that comes with it – with a win against Carolina (5-10) as well as a loss by Green Bay (12-3) to Chicago (8-7) and a win by Seattle (11-4) against San Francisco (6-9).
It has not yet been confirmed whether Kamara will be ousted for playing in a wild card game next weekend, so the Saints will have plenty of interest to take interest and root on Sunday as he is the hopes to enter the No. 1 spot in the NFC.
Latavius Murray should handle most of the back work with Kamara on either side.
Kamara has 187 touchdowns for a career-high 932 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, tied for the first time in the NFL. He leads all running support in getting with 83 career-best shots and a team for 756 yards with five touchdowns.
