PM Modi benefits friends at the expense of the country: Rahul Gandhi

Transportation leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday briefed the Center on the rise in fuel and gas prices as well as the alleged sale of public sector enterprises.

Gandhi and his Congress party have been attacking the government over high fuel prices, claiming they have raised more than Rs 21 lakh crore as taxes on petrol products ever since they came to power in 2014.

“Central government explodes in broad daylight. 1. Terrible tax collection on diesel-petrol gas. 2. Tearing people’s share, employment and resources by selling PSU-PSB to friends,” he added cost in a tweet in Hindi.

“The only way a PM is, is to benefit friends at the expense of the country,” the Congress vice president said.

Congress has suspended proceedings in both houses of Parliament on rising petrol prices and called for a debate on the issue.
