Rory McIlroy will appear at WGC-Dell Technologies Game Play
The pitch was set for WGC-Dell Technologies Game Play, with Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau and Justin Thomas among the standing names featured.
McIlroy has played every edition of the tournament since making his 2009 debut, defeating Gary Woodland in the 2015 final as one of four top five finals at the World Golf Championship event.
The four-time senior champion had already promised to be picked up at Austin Country Club next week as part of a star-studded pitch, although he submitted after missing a cut at the Players’ Championship earlier in the year. this month he could team up with the WGC to work on his game ahead of The Masters.
McIlroy will be one of the main seed for the group stage of round robins
The Northern Irish entry was confirmed when the competition area was announced on Friday night, with 64 of the top 69 in the world – including all 10 of the top 10 in the world – right now to close it in Texas.
McIlroy’s early exit from TPC Sawgrass last week was the second missed cut in four starters on the PGA Tour, with the former world admitting that trying to report DeChambeau’s power-hit has been “destructive” to his game in recent months.

The 31-year-old has finished top-25 in 11 of his last 13 starts worldwide but is without a win from the WGC-HSBC Champions in November 2019, with the Match Play set as McIlroy’s last start before finalizing his latest bid. next month’s Grand Slam golf course at Augusta National.
The tournament sees players compete in round robin groups over the first three days, with each of the 16 group winners then progressing to the knockout stages over the end- weeks.
