Pinchas Wallerstein, one of the leaders of Gush Emunim and former chairman of the Yesha Council, calls for unity in political religious Zionism.
“We must unite all the bodies that see the State of Israel in the process of ‘Return to Zion,’ first of all the growth of our redemption,” Wallerstein declared.
“The national religious value of the return of the people of Israel to their land and the establishment of a Jewish state in the Land of Israel, a process that has no equal anywhere in the world, has not happened and will not happen. The message of a Jewish home is so vital that there should be a party.” .
“It is imperative to unite all the forces and modesty of the leaders who will understand the need for the establishment of a Jewish state in the Land of Israel. “Not only religion, it is also a nation. ‘This day you become a people’ is an alliance given at the entrance to the land. The condition for a Jewish nation is solely in the land of Israel and in the sovereignty of the people of Israel,” Wallerstein added.
“We were privileged to live in a time of the flowering of the Land of Israel and Judaism, and we must get excited anew every day that we live in such a time. “Anyone who believes in this value to unite into one big party, in the face of external threats, while giving up the personal ego,” he concluded.
Earlier this week, former Gush Katif rabbi Rabbi Yigal Kamintsky issued a letter to hundreds of rabbis in religious Zionism calling for the unification of national religious parties into one party.
Among other things, Rabbi Kamintsky noted that “in order for a connection to come to fruition, a lot of modesty and humility is needed from all those who lead the parties to end the ego and power wars and decide and unite together.”
Following the call, prominent public figures in the national-religious sector joined the initiative, including the head of the Kiryat Arba Hebron Council, Eliyahu Libman, former MK Zvi Handel and Rebbetzin Dr. Hanna Katan.
