The extra vaccination orders come after the country ordered an initial 13 million doses on March 6 this year, and they have promised deliveries will be made by mid-2021.

Despite the promised order, Moderna is working closely with the Philippine government, as the previously mentioned vaccine has not yet been licensed for use in the country, and they are working closely with regulators before it is released.

“We appreciate the continued confidence shown by the Philippine government through this new agreement, as well as support from the private sector, which has resulted in 20 million doses being secured for the country,” said Stéphane Bancel, CEO of Moderna.

She said, “This agreement supports the ongoing efforts in the Philippines to access safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines and reflects Moderna’s ongoing commitment to worldwide access to the vaccine. to expand the world. ”
