Phil Mickelson says he will be playing the PGA Tournament event next week

Phil Mickelson will be looking to be perfect for his PGA Tour Champions career next week at the Cologuard Classic.

Mickelson promised to play the event at the Omni Tucson National Tourist Center (Ariz.). This is his first time on the over-50 tour since he went 2-for-2 last year with victories at the Charles Schwab Series at Ozarks National and Dominion Energy Charity Classic.

Lefty has struggled on the PGA Tour this season. He has missed the cut in half of what he started to include last week at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am when he fell by the 80th second round.

Mickelson does not qualify for next week’s WGC-Workday Championship, an event he won in 2018 when he played in Mexico City and ’09 when he was at Doral, and he seems to have no interest in it. to play against another Tour event in the Dominican Republic.

If Mickelson won the Cologuard Classic he would be the first to start his career with three victories in events controlled by the PGA Tour.
