Perugia – Music – Women Control: The Big Winners of the 2021 Grammy

The Grammy ceremony has long been the most coveted in the music world, and just being nominated for such an award is a huge honor for artists. Many call the ceremony the “Oscar” of music. While you slept, in the small hours of the night (Israel time) the traditional ceremony took place (after being postponed for two months following the corona). This time, the Grammys had to adjust to the period so that most of the performances were pre-recorded and the awards ceremony was held outside, on the roof of the Staples Center in Los Angeles where everyone kept their distance and with designed masks.

More on Perugi’s music channel:

The ceremony was opened by Harry Styles with his hit “Watermelon sugar” (which also received the “Pop Song of the Year” award) and we were privileged to watch some dance moves by Harry. Billy Aylish then took the stage with her brother Phineas and performed with their song “Everything I Wanted” with a tribute to a clip of the same song. Taylor Swift also performed and she sang a string of three songs from her last two albums. Also appearing: Doge Kat, Doa Lipa, BTS, and Megan De Stallion who recreated with the Cardi Bee the music video “Wap”.

And as for the winners, or especially the winners, because the women are the ones who dominated the list and rake in the four most important categories of the evening and also broke a number of records. Billy Aylish has won two awards including “Record of the Year” and “Best Song Written for Film”. Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande won this year’s collaboration on “Rain on me”.

The song of the year was given to HER for the song “I Can’t Breathe” which talks about the anti-racism demonstrations that have been in the US for the past year. Tonight’s are Megan Di Stallion and Beyonce, Megan has won three awards including the coveted Breakthrough Award of the Year.

Beyoncé won four awards, thus breaking the record for winning an artist with 28 awards. Doa Lipa won the title of “Pop Album of the Year”.

As you may recall, in recent weeks the ceremony has garnered a lot of criticism from artists and others and some have also decided to boycott it such as De Weekend and Zayn Malik who claim the ceremony is addictive and only for those who have protections-winner or candidate at all.
