Global shipments of PC monitors grew to 39.2 million units in the last quarter of 2020, an increase of 16.9% year-on-year, and finally surpassed it in 2021, technology analysis firm IDC says .
For the full year, IDC said shipments had grown to 136.6 million units, representing 8.3% year-on-year growth, adding that this is the best annual growth since it began monitoring the market. in 2008.
Demand in the fourth quarter fell on both applications due to more work from home and also a shortage of panel parts that expanded loads.
“Many of the same trends continued from earlier in the year in the fourth holiday,” said Jay Chou, research manager for IDC’s PC Quarterly Monitor.
“In the midst of high demand, production has been low so some markets are still short of stock and we can expect more performance for back orders through much of this year.
“Beyond 2021, we believe the market will settle into a faster replacement cycle based on a higher connection rate to notebooks and a more active in-home use model.”
IDC predicted that a shortage of parts would continue through at least the first six months of 2021. Hybrid and popular gambling activity was expected to drive growth in a consumer market that would stimulate alternative wear.
The US was the largest market in 2020, surpassing China; IDC said it was expected to continue in the lead this year.
“IDC expects North America and Europe to help lead the global market growth of 8.7% in 2021, then cool by 2022 as the survey market completes the 2020 forecast- 2025 with a complex annual growth rate (CAGR) of 0.4%, “the report added.
