Patrick Williams will change jersey number to replace Vucevic

Chicago Bulls rookie Patrick Williams has yet to take the floor with center-back Nikola Vucevic, but the rookie has already found the first help he gave his new team.

In fact, the Bulls received the All-Star and Al-Farouq Aminu Thursday from the Orlando Magic in exchange for Wendell Carter Jr., Otto Porter Jr. and two selected versions in the first round. The trade ended a busy day for the Bulls, in which they also pitted Troy Brown and Daniel Theis.

With Vucevic arriving in Chicago, the 7-footer had to pick a new jersey number. He spent No. 9 during his nine seasons in Orlando, but that number was previously taken by Williams. However, the fourth chose to change the whole selection in order to get in.

Williams will now release No. 44 this season, according to the team.

Vucevic figures have been added to help the Bulls compete for a playoff spot this season. With Vucevic in the picture now, it’s not clear how Williams ’career will change but the rookie wanted to make sure he greeted the team with open arms by handing out his jersey number.
