According to expectations, the week of Passover will bring tens of thousands of travelers from all over the country to Samaria. Among other sites in the area, hikers will be able to reach for the first time the altar of Joshua on Mount Ebal, this coming Monday from 9:00 to 16:00.
The Samaria Regional Council says that unlike previous years this time, travelers will be able to get to the place independently throughout the day, without prior arrangement.
The new military-backed directive comes amid the destruction carried out at the site several weeks ago by the Palestinian Authority that hit the wall surrounding the Joshua altar. Council Chairman Yossi Dagan addressed the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense and demanded that the area be secured.
Travelers arriving in the area will enjoy activities for the whole family including a kite workshop, an interactive ‘Race for a Million’, a spectacular view of the city of Nablus, educational guides, shaded seating areas and more. The exit will be made by vehicles from Samaria, the road is controlled and will be secured by the IDF.
Council Chairman Yossi Dagan said that anyone who wanted to destroy the area and damage an ancient and important Jewish heritage site would receive thousands of travelers in the same place: “The site is being restored and its capacity can reach thousands of travelers. “Come to Samaria.”
