Pak vs NZ: All-round Shadab Khan rules out of series due to thigh injury, Sports News

Pakistan’s all-round Shadab Khan was ruled out of a consecutive test series against New Zealand due to a thigh injury, the team said Saturday. Cricket will also miss the home series against South Africa starting next month.

The 22-year-old was injured at Tuesday’s final T20 match in Napier and was initially ruled out of the opening test against New Zealand, which started at Mount Maunganui earlier on Saturday.

According to scans, Khan will be on both sides for several weeks.

“The MRI reports have confirmed that it is a new injury and not the one that removed him from the Zimbabwe series last month,” team doctor Sohail Saleem said in a statement.

“Shadab is going through a six-week rehabilitation program where he will have weekly ultrasound scans.

“After the tournament in the six weeks, the medical panel will get a chance and assess the injury before calling for Shadab’s return to competitive cricket.”

South Africa will travel to Pakistan next month for the first time in 13 years to play two trials and sixty20 Internationals.
