PA provides bail for a Palestinian DJ arrested over a mosque party

A Palestinian female DJ arrested last month for having a party at a Muslim site on the West Bank has been released from detention, her lawyer said.

Sama Abdulhadi, 30, was released Sunday after being charged with a sum of about $ 2,800.

She will be subject to a weekly investigation by Palestinian police and is banned from leaving the country, her defense lawyer told an Israeli public broadcaster Kan.

Abdulhadi was arrested last Sunday after playing at Nabi Musa, which Muslims traditionally believe is the burial place of Moses.

She is believed to be the first Palestinian woman to become a professional DJ.

The video of the event posted on social media showed men and women dancing together at the gathering and drinking alcohol, raising public anger and allegations that they removed from the sacred site, which also includes a mosque.

At one point, men entered the site and dismissed the parties.

The incident, one comment on Twitter, said, “is very disappointing. It’s a disgrace to all three [monotheistic] religions. ”

“How do you meet a group of Palestinian liberal party at Nabi Musa mosque?” said commenter.

The incident also occurred despite coronavirus restrictions in place in the West Bank, although organizers said they had obtained official approval from the Ministry of Tourism.

At the request of Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, a commission of inquiry was set up “to find out what happened at Nabi Musa.”

At the same time, human rights groups were arrested as condemned as a move intended to promote a section of Palestinian opinion and demanded its release.
