The former Gunners captain, who brought the German player to the Emirates Stadium, believes the World Cup winner will once again succeed in Turkey
Arsene Wenger says Mesut Ozil’s hunger to play again must be “very big” behind his struggle at Arsenal, with a player who remains the leader of the league. “Orchestra” tidied up to succeed at Fenerbahce.
A contract that sees a World Cup-winning midfielder link with the club he supported as a boy is nearing completion.
Ozil is in Turkey ahead of the proposed change, with the 32-year-old looking to recover after being frozen out of Mikel Arteta’s plans at the Emirates Stadium.
Wenger, the man who brought enigmatic talent to north London in 2013, is amazed by the difficulties posed by a confirmed game winner at heavyweight in the Premier League.
He was never skeptical of the qualities of a playmaker to whom he gave him a prominent role and a rewarding contract, with a change of scenery and a fresh start expected to serve Ozil well as he tries to get a false career back the way.
“I’m sure he’s sorry he didn’t play. The hunger must be complete [enormous] to play football again, ”said Gunners great Wenger beIN SPORTS.
“Mesut is a man who needs a warm environment and I believe he will get that more than anywhere else in Turkey. All in all, it can provide the balls that the strikers need to win football matches. If they do that well, they have a good chance of winning the league.
“I will follow that with great care.”
Wenger added Ozil, who won three FA Cup trophies under his leadership: “Mesut is like thinking of an orchestra in music. He is a man who plays the ball at the right time.
“The pass of the gorge is very special, but so is the creativity of the gorge. In every situation he affirms, he gives the right answer and that is genius.
“I have to say he can provide the supports, the main pass. I remember he was the first, the fastest to break the number of fans in the Premier League. In 2015-16 he had 19 assists in the league. That’s absolutely amazing.
“If the time is right, the time of the pass will be perfect and the quality of the pass will be perfect. These are the kind of players who like strikers. ”
Wenger believes it won’t take long for Ozil to move on with Fener, despite his last competitive appearance for Arsenal coming back in March 2020.
He said of the character of separation: “There are two things that are very important in the quality of your performance. First your basic fitness, you will get your core well-being if you work out well in training and do good exercise.
“Personally, I don’t know what shape it is at the moment. The second part of fitness is competitive and that has to do with the number of games you play. On the front, he has a hand.
“If the basic fitness of training is good, it only takes him three or four games to be at his best.
“Its quality is domhainn deep insight. He sees quickly, he makes quick decisions and he quickly understands what he is seeing. That’s a quality you don’t find too often in our game. “
