It’s no big secret that David Alaba will not renew his contract at Bayern Munich and he will be allowed to leave for free at the end of the season and tomorrow, it seems that this will become official. Tonight (Monday) it was reported in the German ‘Bild’ that the defender / brake will issue an orderly announcement and say goodbye to his team for the past 12 years.
His new destination is not expected to be announced soon but according to reports from various media outlets Real Madrid is the clear favorite to win his services. However, it is impossible to rule out the episode even beyond the Premier League, with Chelsea and Manchester City staring in his direction. As you may recall, Pep Guardiola coached him for three seasons and this may contribute to his struggle.
There is no doubt that the Austrian will be remembered forever at the club as a legend. Alaba came to Bayern when he was only 16 years old, and as they passed he became a mainstay and key figure in the team’s many achievements. To his credit 414 appearances in all settings in which he contributed 33 goals and 49 assists and in the same period he won 26 titles – 9 championships, 6 trophies, 5 German Super Cups, 2 European Super Cups, 2 World Club Championships, 2 Champions League.
Along with the apparent parting from Alaba, there was also a game last night (Monday) in which the champion lost points and finished 3: 3 against Arminia Billifeld, stopped after seven consecutive victories in all settings. However, Bayern recorded a most impressive milestone with their 61st goal in 21 Bundesliga games – the previous one to do so was Hamburg in 81/82, and that season it also picked up the European Championship title.
