Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt announced Thursday that he was issuing a regulatory order Friday ending state restrictions on events and on Oklahomans.

The new order will also allow people to enter state buildings without the need for a mask.

‘As a result of the progress we have made, I will issue a new regulatory order tomorrow,’ Stitt said at the press conference, KOCO reports. ‘There will be no nationwide ban on events, or Oklahomans. I am also removing the requirements for wearing a mask in state buildings.

‘More Oklahomans are getting vaccines every day, and the CDC’s new guidelines mean that a mask should be a personal decision based on your situation. ‘

Under the circumstances, Stitt stressed that Oklahomans should still wear a mask to stop the spread of the virus.

The standard cannot be zero issues. In Oklahoma, freedom is the norm. The freedom to worship, the freedom to go to work and earn a living, the freedom to visit your loved ones in nursing homes, the freedom to send children to school in person, and the freedom to protect family whatever you see fit, ‘Stitt said.

Stitt pointed out that the declining hospitals in the state and counting cases explained why the restrictions were being lifted.

According to the state health department, the case records have gone down after Oklahoma – like most of the country – experienced a spike around the holidays.

So far this month, most hospitals in Oklahoma have had less than 15 percent of COVID-positive patients. Oklahomans has already been given a million doses of the vaccine, the Department of Health said.

Oklahoma has had just under 431,000 advanced cases of the coronavirus. State figures share that 4,701 people have died.
