NEW YORK – James Nicholas Kinney has joined Ogilvy as chief global diversity, equality & inclusion officer and chief people officer for North America, bringing nearly two decades of D&I experience and human resources to the role.
As the company’s global DE&I director, Kinney replaces Donna Pedro who, after 14 years in the position, takes over with WPP-owned company.
In North America, Kinney also oversees all aspects of talent management, recruitment, learning & development and wellbeing. He will be joined by Jag Dhanji, who was recently promoted to global chief of people, and Devika Bulchandani, who was recently named North American Ogilvy Chief.
Kinney brings experience gained from spending the past 18 years working in D&I and HR leadership roles. Most recently, Kinney was the mother talent chief of the advertising agency and was a VP of people at Giant Spoon before that.
Kinney is the latest in a series of recent recruits by Andy Main, a former Deloitte official who replaced John Seifert as Ogilvy’s global CEO in June.
In December, Julianna Richter, whose long-standing career in the industry includes serving as Edelman U.S.’s chief operating officer, was named Ogilvy’s global CEO of public relations & influence, taking up a role which had been vacant for nearly two years.
