The International Center for Sports Studies (CIES) continues to publish a new study every week, this time raising the question: who are the most successful players in the Corona year – since March 15, 2020? 42 different leagues around the world (including Israel). Please note, only players who played over 20 games participated in the study.

AC Milan’s Red Star player Belgrade is in first place with 21 wins in 22 games, while third – ranked Bayern Munich’s third overall is the first in the top five leagues with 21 wins in 23 games. The other top leagues are led by Bernardo Silva (Manchester City) in England, Mario Hermoso (Atletico Madrid) in Spain, Jonathan David (Lille) in France and Alexis Salmakers (Milan) in Italy. On the other hand, Bastian Ochipka of Schalke “leads” the opposite table – with no wins in 23 Bundesliga games.

And what about Israel? Ofri Arad is the most successful player in the Corona era. The Maccabi Haifa stopper has won 18 games out of 25 in which he started – 72 percent success. It is followed by Dan Glazer from Maccabi Tel Aviv (15 from 21 – 71.4%), Dolev Haziza (19 from 27 – 70.4%) and Luis Hernandez and Sharan Yeni (14 from 20 – 70%). The first players who are not from Maccabi Haifa or Maccabi Tel Aviv come from Ashdod, where Yoav Jaffy and Nenad Svetkovic won 12 of 21 games in which they started – 57.1%.
