A Canadian woman has made it clear that no gift will be given for her 94th birthday.

She has only one request.

“I’m 94 today! No gifts, just the vaccine if you please,” a handwritten sign said outside her Toronto home.

Margot, Nina Rockett’s daughter, expressed her fear of the government’s slow spread of the vaccine by making and hanging the flag outside her mother’s house on the birthday- born on February 24th.

Canada has received more than 400 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine supply, but the distribution hit a roadblock due to shortages and delivery delays by European manufacturers.

To date, less than three pennies of the Canadian population have received at least one coronavirus vaccine.

“It was the night before my mother ‘s birthday and I realized she was turning 94 and not vaccinated,” Margot told AFP news agency.

“What’s happening here is appalling, shameful.”

She said she was “tired” and thought that since her other husband turned 94, she “deserves” to be surrounded.

“I was really tired and I thought I just wanted the world to know she’s 94 and she deserves the vaccine – and she wants it,” Margot said.

Since the message was posted, Margot states that “honking horns, thumbs up, (passersby) yelling I support you”.

“I think everyone should hang a flag like this outside their door or window or balcony,” Margot suggested, so that people understand the plight of the country’s elderly.
