Nintendo will discuss upcoming Switch games “On Time”

No one can deny that Nintendo did very much successful 2020. With operating profits up 98%, Crossing animals: New Horizons reaching 31 million sales and 87% token market share in Japan, the company’s recent financial report confirmed that it has done so separately well recently.

However, we haven’t heard much about the upcoming software line for 2021. Real Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury arrives next week and New Pokémon Snap launches in April, but – outside Deiseil Bravely II (which it publishes outside of Japan) – Nintendo’s custom plans feel a bit stark.

Speaking of these financial results during a conference call, one question was raised about Nintendo ‘s upcoming software plans for the next fiscal year. In response, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed:

Our software line for the next fiscal year is a topic we will be discussing in due course. We’ve already announced our plans to release Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury in February, followed by MONSTER HUNTER RISE in March (see note 1), and New Pokémon Snap in April (see note 2). As always, we will be preparing a number of software titles for users in the coming fiscal year.

So, in other words, we have to wait and see. Nintendo doesn’t usually announce upcoming games too long ahead of time – blocking the weird exceptions – so this isn’t an unexpected response from Furukawa. For now, though, it looks like we haven’t heard anything new yet.
