Nintendo has announced a handful of new games for the Switch console at the Nintendo Direct live event. This is the first time since September 2019 that Nintendo has hosted a direct online demo. The one-hour live event featured a slew of new games Splatoon 3, Golf Mario: Super Rush and Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, among others.
The new games announced for the Switch will help secure Nintendo’s position in the competitive video games market. While the Switch console is doing very well, there has been pressure on the Japanese company to announce a soup version of the console. Nintendo Switch’s strong competition is against strong competition from Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox X series./Series S.
Splatoon 3
Splatoon has been officially announced for the Switch, although it is not expected to hit shelves until 2022. Little is known about the game, but we do know that the new game will be based in Splatsville, “the city of chaos” in the middle of the Splatlands. Splatoon 3 is the sequel to the popular color fighting game that was introduced on the Nintendo Switch in 2017. Even though Splatoon as a young franchise, it already has a cult among Nintendo fans. The first game in the Splatoon the exclusive Wii U series that began in 2015.
Golf Mario: Super Rush
A new Mario game has been announced for the Switch, and it will be called Golf Mario: Super Rush. When launched on June 25, an adventure game lets you turn Joy-Con controller to play golf. The game also includes multiplayer Golf distance mode allows you to play with three other players.
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
Although there was no information about the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, revealed The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for the Switch. This is a high definition remake of the 2011 Wii game, with motion controls. Nintendo is also releasing a pair of themed controllers to be released when the game hits retail shelves.
Other games mentioned through digital-only coverage included ports for indie games such as Fall Guys and Wilds out as well as a free online multiplayer game Star Wars Hunters, No More Heroes Trilogy and Famicom Tracker Club.
