Ninja GaidenThere have been rumors of Ryu Hayabusa as a DLC fighter for Ultimate Smash Bros., and at least one person seems to be following the idea: director and producer Tomonobu Itagaki. Itagaki is partly responsible for bringing Ryu back to prominence by 2004 Ninja Gaiden resumed. Although Itagaki is no longer with Tecmo, the director was involved in several series entries before his departure in 2008. Speaking to Dexerto, the director supported the idea that Ryu added as a hero, saying the Nintendo Switch game offered a decent place for the character to appear.
“Super Smash Bros. is a popular game,” Itagaki told Dexerto. “I think it’s a big enough platform for Ryu Hayabusa to play actively.”
As of this writing, there are still three characters that have not been revealed as playable fighters Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s Fighter’s Pass Vol. 2, after the release of Sephiroth last month. Apparently, the last three fights will be released by the end of 2021. Ryu Hayabusa has been rumored to appear in the game a long time ago, and it would be appropriate, considering the history appears on Nintendo systems. Itagaki’s agreement doesn’t mean everything other than how he left Tecmo, but it’s interesting to see someone with a close connection to the character support him!
Interestingly enough, Team Ninja has been tense recently that news related to the Ninja Gaiden franchise is coming soon. No further details have been announced, but the developer said it is currently targeting new games, as opposed to the existing IP. That would reveal that someone else could be doing something with Ryu Hayabusa. Whether that could mean appearance Ultimate Smash Bros. is anyone ‘s opinion, but it looks like an announcement for the next fighter in the game will come in March or April, if Nintendo plans to release all three this year. That would certainly be deserved “soon,” but Ninja Gaiden fans and Ultimate Smash Bros. we will have to wait to see what comes next!
