1. Start small: Change is the hardest thing to do. Don’t set goals that are hard to reach, be reasonable and start with the easiest step. Remember that the first step is the most important thing. So set small achievable goals like closing your kitchen before 9pm or walking every half hour of sitting, or even something like eating two fresh fruit a day. It will take us 21 days to change a habit and if we follow it for three months it will become our way of life. Take your time, it’s more important to learn what you need to change and get started.

2. Eating at the Right Time it has a huge impact on our health. Try to eat at the same time every day; it will help you control your hunger / satiety cycle more effectively. For this, we need to work together whether it is at work or at home, we need to have fixed meal times based on our sundial.

3. Eating right: Now, this is a place where everyone will be confused because of the amount of information around. It’s pretty simple: Good food is anything that is fresh, seasonal and local and has traditionally been part of a kitchen for grandmothers and mothers. Most of the information on social media is driven by western lifestyle, which may be good for them, but our traditional foods, eating habits and cooking habits are the healthiest for us. We just need to choose the right quality and quantity of oils.

4. Service sizes: This depends on the activity levels, age, gender, and health goals of individuals. Even the healthiest foods are good to be consumed in the amounts the body needs, more never meant more nutrition. Learn what you need and then stick to it. The occasional samosa or burger will also not distract you from your health goals if you understand this.

5. Describe the scale of measurement: I prefer to measure my patient ‘s success by finding out if energy levels are better and if the body is feeling healthier. While stress, while an important risk factor for lifestyle diseases, is not at all true. A sense of well-being, adopting and adhering to healthier habits is a better way to measure success. The pressure comes down when it all comes together in a more consistent way. If necessary, stress yourself out once every 15 days.

6. A healthy mind an important part of health. So make sure you sleep for 6-8 hours a day, it is essential for a healthy body. The brain needs rest, as well as regular sleep de-stress. Learn to turn from a regular day for at least an hour or so, for this you can think, pursue a hobby, read a book or listen to music. The ‘time for me’ will help refresh your brain and prepare for new challenges without compromising health.

7. Exercise every day: You don’t have to hit the gym or start bodybuilding or run a marathon, just a half hour brisk walk will be physically active throughout the day. NEAT (or Non-Exercise Thermogenesis) plays a major role in total calorie burning. Every time you take the stairs, walk around after 30 minutes of sitting, walk while talking on the phone, ironing clothes, doing laundry and other housework it all put up with you healthier. Like I said to start slow but keep your goals in mind and get there one step at a time.

For me it’s important to achieve health goals, but more important is that the journey or the changes you make to your lifestyle will last a lifetime. You stay in your body all your life making it a happy place.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy and peaceful new year 2021!
