After losing Thomas Bryant for the rest of the season following a tear in the cruciate ligament in his knee, the Washington Wizards strengthen the front line: Ukrainian chin Alex Len, who was recently released from Toronto, concluded by the end of the season with a team from the capital, the United States reported tonight (Friday).
Len signed a minimum contract with Toronto during the break, but was privileged to be part of the team for only seven games – until he was cut. The 27-year-old chin entered the league in 2013 with high expectations, and was selected fifth in the draft by the Phoenix Suns, but at no point was able to make his mark. He will now try to find his place in Scott Brooks’ rotation.
Len spent the first five seasons in the league on the same team that selected him in the draft, and his peak season was in 2015/16 – then averaging 9 points and 7.6 rebounds in 23.3 minutes per game. A season later, in the Atlanta uniform, he averaged 11.1 points per game.
Meanwhile, it is still unclear when Alex Len will be able to make his Washington debut, as there is currently no clear information as to when the team will return to the floor. According to the current schedule, the next game is expected between Sunday and Monday against San Antonio away, but as is known – six games of Danny Abdia and his friends have already been postponed due to the spread of the corona virus inside the club.
Free agent center Alex Len has agreed to a one-year deal with the Washington Wizards, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. After clearing waivers, Len had multiple suits and chose opportunity with Wizards, who needed depth in frontcourt.
