Netflix’s ‘Shadow and Bone’ variation drops first, release date

Netflix brings the pages of Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse novels live with Shade and Bone, a new series based on the popular books. In a teaser released earlier today, we got a glimpse of the future when the show hits next year, and it comes with a promise: “You and I are going to change the world, ”a voiceover says in the first clip for the fantasy change.

Shade and Bone following Alina Starkov (Jessie Mei Li), an orphan provider living in a war-torn society. But everything is about to change for Alina and the world as she finds a power that can liberate her country. “With the terrible threat of the Shadow Fold looming, Alina is torn from all she knows of training as part of an elite army of magical soldiers known as Grisha, ”Netflix approaches in the Shade and Bone official series description. “But as she struggles to unleash her power, she discovers that friends and enemies can be the same and that nothing in this big world is the way it seems. Dangerous forces are at play, involving a team of charismatic criminals, and it takes more than magic to survive. ”

The upcoming fantasy series comes from Shawn Levy, the producer behind goal as Strange things, along with Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry for 21 Laps Entertainment and Pouya Shahbazian. Shade and Bone also comes from showrunner, action producer and writer Eric Heisserer; executive producer and director Lee Toland Krieger; and Bardugo, who is an active producer on the series.

With Li as Alina Starkov, Shade and Bone starring Archie Renaux (Malyen Oretsev), Freddy Carter (Kaz Brekker), Amita Suman (Inej), Kit Young (Jesper Fahey), Ben Barnes (General Kirigan), Sujaya Dasgupta (Zoya Nazyalensky), Danielle Galligan (Nina Zenik), Daisy Chief (Genya Safin), Simon Sears (Ivan), Calahan Skogman (Matthias Helvar), Zoë Wanamaker (Baghra), Kevin Eldon (The Apparat), Julian Kostov (Fedyor), Luke Pasqualino (David), Jasmine Blackborow (Marie) , and Gabrielle Brooks (Nadia).
