After a trial period that began in August of last year, Netflix is ready to officially launch the“Shuffle” To all subscribers around the world. The button will save us the fateful question “What will we watch?” And will grant the right to decide to Netflix’s algorithm. The company will add the button to every subscriber in the first quarter of 2021.

The announcement of the new plug-in was made as part of the publication of Netflix’s financial results for the quarter that marked the year 2020, in which it was also reported that Netflix first crossed the level of the 200 million subscribers paying for the service.

For subscribers who have reviewed the feature as part of the trial period, the Shuffle button appeared on the main page of the interface, where the viewer profile is selected (the screen asking the question “Who is watching Netflix?”). Below each user was the random play button – for some under the heading “Play something” and for others under the heading “Shuffle player”.

In addition, the button also appeared after entering the profile, with the opening of the side menu. In this menu the button appeared as a question “Not sure what to expect?”. After clicking, if you do not like the random title, another button will appear to play another random title.

So what exactly will the random button play?

The random button is not completely random. By clicking on the Shuffle button, Netflix will not only select a random title from its entire huge library, but will play a title that is personally recommended to you based on content you watched before or those you saved in the “My List” library.

By using Netflix’s algorithm, the company will not only be able to help us decide what to expect but also help the service itself launch new series or movies that they think we like. It can be assumed that new content will be given priority in the random play button.

As for the name of the button, Netflix has not yet officially decided. The company’s CEO, Reed Hastings, joked with VP of Operations Greg Peters and asked if they would call the “Do You Feel Lucky” button as a reference to the random Google browser button. Peters replied that Netflix would find a new name for the plugin, but we will have to wait for the launch to know what it is.

Aside from the new button, Netflix has recently begun exploring additional viewing options that help us tidy up the service’s large library. During 2020 they launched the new and popular content label, and at the end of last year announced their intention to test in France a linear channel that broadcasts the best content of the company on a pre-arranged broadcast schedule.
