Nearly 6 million voted: UEFA 2020 composition

Beginning of an article

After a month full of voting, and at the end of a year full of ups and downs, UEFA released this morning (Wednesday) the composition “Team of the year 2020”. Almost six million fans voted for the best players in the world and chose the 11 who excelled last season, and the results.

As expected, the two who have already taken a permanent place on the list have also entered this season. These are Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi, who scored 44 and 27 goals respectively in the team and the national team. Messi also added 19 assists in 48 appearances, while Ronaldo settled for 7 assists in 45 appearances. Alongside them who man the offensive part, are Robert Lewandowski of course, who scored 40 goals in 36 appearances and won FIFA Player of the Year, and Neymar.

Also in the defensive part there are not many surprises. The two defenders, of course, belong to European champions Bayern Munich. On the left stands Alfonso Davis, who started the year as a more anonymous player and became one of the top defenders in the world. Next to him, on the right wing, stands Joshua Kimich – who has become a long-range defender at Bayern Munich. The two brakes are Virgil Van Dyke, who managed to take a historic championship with Liverpool before he was injured, and Sergio Ramos – who, while functioning on defense, has become one of Real Madrid’s important attacking tools.

Alongside those that did enter the list, there are some glittering names left out. From Killian Ambape, through Karim Benzema, to various Liverpool representatives such as Muhammad Salah and Trent Alexander Arnold.
