Ndombele features Pogba’s conversation about playing under Mourinho & how he wanted to leave Tottenham

The two French midfielders have suffered difficult spells with the coach, although the Spurs star has set his turn around last year

Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele says he spoke to Manchester United star Paul Pogba about his experience with Jose Mourinho when the coach arrived on the London side.

Mourinho took over Tottenham in November 2019, almost a year after his spell at United ended with his sack.

It was reported that Pogba and Mourinho had a difficult relationship during Portugal’s time at Old Trafford.

His association with Ndombele did not start to a good start either, as the coach signaled the former Lyon player to be criticized after he was replaced at half-time against Burnley in March last year.

What was said?

Ndombele sought guidance from his French international counterpart, but says their circumstances were very different.

“We talked, we talked about that but quickly. It wasn’t like he gave me any advice because our circumstances were completely different,” Ndombele said. Ball-coise.London.

“It is true that he worked with Mourinho but my own experiences were not the same and each relationship has its own characteristics. “

Ndombele wanted to leave early

Ndombele came to sign the Spurs record as he made the move to the English capital in a € 60 million (£ 54m / $ 68m) deal in 2019.

The 24-year-old has become a key player for Mourinho’s side, but with his difficult start to his life in England he wished he had never made a move in the first place.

“It was really sad. I remember even calling home to my friends in France saying I want to come back,” he said.

“It was so hard, but maybe that’s what I needed. I needed to get used to that kind of work, that kind of training and over time to make it famous.”

However, he was determined not to go down as a failure at Spurs and feels he has grown stronger since then.

He said: “That’s something that motivates me all the time to improve, but you have to remember that I wasn’t feeling well at the time and maybe, for sure, after the event I’ll be watching back and thinking that I would not have wanted to leave and want to prove myself here, but at the moment if you are not feeling well, these thoughts are a long way from your mind.

“It has definitely made me stronger in my mind. It has made and developed me as an athlete, as it did last season, because I didn’t play much. I was on my own. hurt a lot, something I’m not used to as we go through the pandemic and times like this you can only get stronger. “

Ndombele have scored six goals in 33 goals in all competitions for Spurs this season.

He has missed just two Premier League games so far in 2020-21.
