Kyrie Irving is urging the NBA to honor Kobe Bryant by changing the league’s logo.
Commissioner Adam Silver says it’s not happening.
“There are currently no ongoing talks at the league office,” Silver said over the weekend at the NBA All-Star Game in Atlanta, according to the New York Times

Silver said: “It doesn’t feel like the right moment” to change the league’s logo.
Irving suggested last month on Instagram that Bryant will replace Jerry West as the brand. Vanessa Bryant, Kobe ‘s widow, shared the post, writing “Love this. ”
Irving Bryant – who was killed along with his daughter Gigi and seven others in a helicopter crash in January 2020 – declared “the stage for our generation. ”
“As a native black man, as a native Black king, I think it is part of my responsibility to push our generation, our culture, forward,” Irving said last month.
“I know that we may have met some people who like the idea and some people who don’t.
“He was, and will continue to be, the standard for our generation, and I want that to be something in a history that has changed forever, that our generation was part of that change. ”
Recorded West says he would be fine with someone replacing him, saying in 2017 on ESPN’s “The Jump” that he “wanted” to be replaced.
“First of all, I wish that had never been discovered, that badge,” he said. “No. I have said it more than once. It ‘s clear that it’ s me, and I know that it ‘s me, and it’ s smooth. For me, I played at the time when they first started marketing the league, there were five people they were considering. I didn’t find out about it until the late commissioner, Walter Kennedy, and then the New York Times publicly told me about it.

West is unlikely to get his wish anytime soon.
