After slashing and scything away at McGregor’s right leg, Poirier found himself in a hunting arena with the biggest name in combat sports today.

Eventually, with McGregor practically lame and wreaking havoc, the Lafayette-native came on to tell the beats on ‘The Notorious’ to leave referee Herb Dean with no choice but to step in.

Immediately after the bout, when asked who was next, Poirier admitted that Michael Chandler was not interested – but a bout with half of Stockton’s favorites may have made it.

“I find Conor ‘s reunion interesting,” said Poirier. “I always wanted to catch ** Nate Diaz. That is interesting to me. I’m sure something will make sense. But right now, I don’t know.

“Conor and I are 1-1. Nate Diaz got away and he likes to talk a lot of s *** online.

“I can promise not to fight Michael Chandler. They can do anything they want with the department. “

Diaz immediately took to Twitter and wrote: “I am training to be a new whoop [sic] ass next. Be about what to talk about. ”

The 35-year-old also found time to Tweet about his former rival McGregor after he succeeded when he wrote, ‘Those boys are all ready all the time. ‘

Diaz has not been fighting since he defeated Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in New York City back in 2019, with the fight halted due to several deep lacerations above his right eye.

Poirier and Diaz were set to face off in the UFC 230 main event, with Poirier shouting his rival ‘hard to deal with’.

“They wanted to turn it into five rounds, man, it was so hard for a dude,” Poirier told MMA Fighting in October 2018.

“I think it was difficult to deal with Nate. Every weight class they offered was at 155 and wanted 160 and I agreed with that. It was kind of a compromise of himself out of the place of a major event.

“They offered us the main event, I accepted, Nate over-negotiated, they missed the main event, it was just days ago when he was trying to make his way, honestly. ”
