Among the first of NASA’s Mars 2020 permanence mission is the group’s first ever Spanish demonstration for landing on a planet. Forward Thursday, February 18th, NASA will air “Juntos perseveramos,” a program that will give viewers an overview of the mission to Mars and highlight the role that NASA’s Hispanic professionals have played there. The program will air on 2:30 pm EST on the groups website, and social media accounts in Spanish: Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. “Juntos perseveramos” will be on the air before Perseverance lands on the Red Planet, which will be held around 3: 55f

“I am so proud of NASA’s efforts to better share the hustle and bustle of the rover Perseverance landing with nearly half a billion Spanish speakers worldwide. ‘Juntos perseveramos’ (Together we keep going) is NASA ‘s first Spanish exhibition for history landing on another planet and will show the diversity of NASA’ s team behind Mars 2020, “said Bhayva Lal. acting as NASA chief of staff. “The show’s name recognizes that perseverance and diversity are critical if NASA is to succeed in ambitious missions such as landing next week.”

“Juntos perseveramos” will be held by a perseverance engineer Diana Trujillo. The pre-recorded section will feature interviews with Hispanic scientists, engineers and astronauts from all over NASA. There will also be a children’s section in collaboration with Sésamo. Hispanic students and celebrities from the worlds of entertainment, journalism and politics will send messages of support. Trujillo offers live English-to-Spanish translation and narration at the time of entry, descent and landing on Mars.

Launched July 30, 2020, the Perseverance rover finds traces of past microbial life, carefully collecting selected rock and sediment samples (rock and broken dust) for future return to Earth, identifying geology and climate As, and paving the way for human study outside the moon. This is NASA’s fifth Mars rover and, if successful, will be NASA’s ninth Mars rover.

Perseverance also follows a technological test – the Mars Ingenuity Helicopter – which will attempt the first controlled flight, on another planet.
