NASA releases stunning images of auroras north and south of Jupiter

Time and time again, NASA has grazed the internet with space images. Now, the group has released a photo of Jupiter’s northern and southern auroras, leaving netizens in awe. Shared on the official Instagram account of NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, the post features images of Jupiter’s north and south auroras.

According to the post, the images, released about 23 years ago, were taken by the Hubble Telescope and see the auroras in ultraviolet light. “The auroras are brilliant light curtains in Jupiter’s high atmosphere,” NASA wrote. Check it out here:

According to NASA, Jupiter has the most powerful auroras in the solar system. They are formed when energetic particles enter the planet’s atmosphere near the magnetic poles and collide with gas atoms.

NASA explained, in a blog post, that Jupiter auroras are large in size and are hundreds of times more dynamic than auroras on Earth. And, unlike those on Earth, they will never stop.
