Erling Haaland said Kylian Mbappe’s hat-trick for Paris Saint-Germain against Barcelona on Tuesday gave Borussia Dortmund a “boost” in Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Sevilla FC.

The 20-year-old Norwegian player has scored twice in Sevilla and runs only Mbappe as the player with the most Champions League goals before his 21st birthday, with 18 goals in 13 matches. The 22-year-old Mbappe scored 19 goals before turning 21.
Mbappe showered against Barcelona in a 4-1 win on Tuesday with his three-goal performance, which Haaland identified as a motivating factor.
“When I saw Mbappe scoring the hat-trick, I got a free boost so thank you,” Haaland said after the game at Sevilla. “He got a good goal and I got a free kick from him and it was nice.”
Sevilla took the lead early thanks to Suso but Mahmoud Dahoud equalized in the 19th minute. Haaland Dortmund took the lead in the 27th from inside the area after a nice pass exchange with Jadon Sancho, and then added to the lead in the 43rd from a close range after a quick break. Luuk de Jong scored a late goal for Sevilla to pull one back.
“We had a good plan,” Haaland said.[Borussia manager] Edin [Terzic] has been good and I have talked to him a lot. He said that today was my game and that I would get my chances and I did it, so it was an important win.
“It wasn’t good to score two goals, but it’s good to take away three goals and take them with us. ”
Like Mbappe, Haaland has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, among other clubs. When asked about his views on the Spanish club, Haaland refused to say “it’s good to be asked.”
On the rumors of a possible exit from PSG, Mbappe said after the Barcelona game: “I always said I’m happy here. These kind of matches make me even happier. . A PSG shirt is one thing I think my heart loves. “
