Move your WhatsApp group chairs to Signal: Here’s how to do it

A new updated privacy policy has landed Facebook-owned WhatsApp in deep water as many users become increasingly skeptical about their privacy on the app. As a result, many WhatsApp users are migrating to competing apps that do not have to share their data with a parent app like Facebook. One such popular app is Signal.

After a sudden increase in downloads Signal became the most downloaded App Store app in India, many new Signal users are looking to settle into the new application and taking over their friends and family. While it is easy to make your own Signal account, the thing that can be difficult is to put your friends and family members in their individual groups one by one. Signal, however, has a neat little solution for WhatsApp migrants.

How to easily recreate your WhatsApp groups on Signal

Step 1: Create a group on Signal

The first step to getting your existing WhatsApp group Signal is to create a new group on the app. You must manually add at least one member to create the group. Give the new group a name of your choice and add a picture if you wish.

Step 2: Get the group invited

Once the group has been created, go to the group options tab and select ‘Group Link’. Turn on the Link Group build and get the link shareable invitation.

Step 3: Share the invitation link

Once you have received a group invitation link, you can share it in your previous WhatsApp groups so that users can link themselves directly to your group Signal created from new. This eliminates the need for the administrator to find and add users one-on-one manually.
