Mourinho: Managing Chelsea can’t be difficult because so many coaches have won titles there

The Tottenham boss has been challenged by new Blues manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of Thursday’s retirement.

Jose Mourinho believes that managing Chelsea cannot be too difficult as he and several other coaches have won titles at Stamford Bridge in recent seasons.

Mourinho will have his first chance to catch new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel on Thursday when Spurs host the Blues in north London.

The Portuguese boss made a name for himself at Stamford Bridge after joining Porto in 2004, winning three Premier League titles over two different leagues above.

But Mourinho is not the only manager to have recently won a league title for Chelsea, as he pointed out before his current side were battling his former employers.

“I don’t think it’s very difficult to coach at Chelsea because I was a champion three times, [Carlo] Ancelotti was a champion, Antonio Conte was a champion. Who else? It can’t be very, very difficult because we win titles there, ”Mourinho said.

“I believe Chelsea always have good players and great teams and good coaches are happy to work with these clubs and with players who give you a great chance to win titles. ”

Chelsea have come a long way from title controversy in recent months, with Frank Lampard on his sack last week after a tragic run of form that saw the Blues lose five of eight games in the league .

Tuchel, who was in charge of PSG recently until his pocket in December, was introduced and has won the Blues and draw in his first two games as a lead.

Mourinho believes management in the Premier League will be a big step up for Tuchel, who led PSG to Ligue 1 competitions in the two full seasons he was in charge.

“The biggest challenge for a coach is working in the best leagues. Our league at the moment is the most challenging, “said Mourinho.

“Tuchel came from a league that you can’t compare to the Premier League.

“But he is used to working with high quality players, used to decorating rooms with key players. He will fit in a club like Chelsea. ”

Tottenham enter Thursday’s game in seventh place, level on points but with a game in hand over Chelsea in eighth place.
