Motorola announced today (Tuesday, 26.1) the first device to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 870 platform unveiled earlier this month. The Motorola Edge S will come with a specification that includes a dual selfie array, a main array of four sensors and a large battery for a price starting at about $ 310 in the Chinese market.
On the front of the Edge S you can find a 6.7-inch LCD screen with Full HD + resolution and a layout of 1080 × 2520 pixels. The screen supports a high refresh rate of 90 Hz and the HDR10 standard for displaying high-definition content, with a pair of separate holes at the top and left that incorporate the dual selfie array, which includes a 16-megapixel main sensor and a 8-megapixel secondary sensor used for wide-angle photography. 100 degrees.
The fingerprint sensor is not located below the display, with Motorola choosing to place it on the frame of the device, along with the power on and off button. Further on in its frame, a 3.5mm slot has also been found for use with wire headphones.

Beyond the back of the Motorola Edge S is the main photo array, which includes 4 cameras:
- Main camera with 64-megapixel sensor with f / 1.7 aperture key.
- A secondary camera with a 16-megapixel sensor for 120-degree wide-angle photography and macro photography at a minimum distance of 2.8 cm, with support for autofocus phase detection (PDAF).
- Depth camera with 2 megapixel sensor and fixed focus.
- ToF sensor for measuring distance, which also includes a lighting circuit around it.
Motorola notes that the camera system supports 6K filming at 30 frames per second and 4K at 60 frames per second, and allows you to perform an “audio zoom” to focus the audio recording while filming on the part we are shooting and filter out the environmental noise.

Under the hood, the company integrates in the Edge S the new Snapdragon 870 chipset, manufactured in a 7-nanometer process, supports 5G networks and uses an 8-core processor, with four powerful Cortex-A77 cores at 3.2GHz, an improvement of about 10% compared to the -Snapdragon 865, and 4 cost-effective 1.8GHz Cortex-A55 cores. Next to the processor is also a LPDDR5 memory component with a capacity of 6 or 8 GB, a UFS 3.1 storage component with a capacity of 128 or 256 GB and a 5,000mAh battery that supports fast charging with a power of up to 20 watts via a USB-C connection.
In addition, the device offers support for Bluetooth 5.1, as it comes with splash resistance in the IP52 standard and with the Android 11 operating system and the customized U UI user interface, which will combine features such as a split screen and desktop mode.
Motorola Edge S: Prices and launch dates
The Edge S will be launched by Motorola in China on February 3, but its pre-order has already been opened for Chinese residents, as it is offered in Blue (Emerald Light) and Silver (Clear Snow), and at the following prices:
