Most Europeans could be vaccinated before the end of September

Ugur Sahin, founder of BioNTech, which developed the Covid-19 vaccine with Pfizer, believes the virus will be under control in most European countries and the United States before the end of the summer.

Germans are becoming increasingly impatient about restrictive measures imposed because of the coronavirus, and EU governments have been criticized for the slow vaccine in numbers and difficulties in getting vaccines.

Sahin, founder of the German company BioNTech, believes that these problems are temporary, that it is possible to vaccinate 70 percent of Germans by the end of September, and that the virus will no longer be such a problem.

“In many European countries and the USA, we will not need a general closure before the end of the summer,” he told Weltag newspaper.

To date, nearly 9 per cent of the German population has received at least one dose of the vaccine, and in Britain, more than 50 per cent of citizens have received one dose.

Slow vaccinations and the continuation of preventive measures in Germany are affecting Chancellor Angela Merkel ‘s conservatives show, which, according to opinion polls, is losing support in the election year, Reuters reports.
