Mobilai will start piloting autonomous shuttles in France

Mobilai and the French TRANSDEV ATS announced today (Thursday) a strategic collaboration in which Mobilai’s autonomous driving technologies will be assimilated in the French company’s shuttles.

In practice, the test trips in the autonomous shuttles will begin in both Israel and France in 2022, and the companies estimate that a commercial deployment will be possible in 2023. It should be noted that autonomous shuttles of several companies such as NAVIA are already operating in the world, and today in Israel experiments are also being conducted using commercial shuttles “under the radar” – for example at Sheba Hospital, where an autonomous shuttle was recently installed.

TRANSDEV shuttles will have 16 seats and can travel at speeds of up to 50 km / h. Mobilai, ie the fabric of information that is accumulated, among other things, through vehicles that are equipped with Mobilai’s systems, which in practice will allow such shuttles to operate even off a pre-determined route.

It should be noted that in recent years Mobilai’s penetration strategy for global markets has undergone a large number of incarnations that have occurred in practice in parallel with the changes that have taken place in the industry itself. At the time, Mobilai also announced a collaboration with BMW and other manufacturers, but in the meantime the global industry is also changing its attitude towards technology that is migrating from passenger cars to autonomous shuttles, partly due to production costs and regulatory difficulties.
