In a reformed world, the Tokyo Olympics were already supposed to be far behind us, but fate wanted them and only in about half a year were they supposed to get going. The members of the organizing committee hoped that the situation of corona sickness in the world would improve significantly, but a year after the outbreak of the plague, there is not too much to be optimistic about.
Morbidity in Japan is still high with an emphasis on Tokyo where there is a huge increase and it is in a state of emergency, half a year before the games. Now, who was in charge of organizing the London 2012 Olympic Games – sir Keith Mills – Talked about the situation and admitted that it is necessary to think about canceling the games.
“Given the epidemic that is spreading around the world, the preparations for the Olympic Games seem unlikely. If I had been in the shoes of the Tokyo Organizing Games Committee, I would have prepared for their cancellation and I am convinced it is on its agenda as well,” Mills declared.
“I think we will wait until the last minute in case the situation improves dramatically and the vaccines spread as fast as we expect. It is a difficult decision and I would not want to be in their shoes because it will be a tragedy for everyone, not just Tokyo and Japan, but the whole world.”
