Microsoft teams to introduce meeting timer for Breakout Rooms

Microsoft desktops could soon get new desktop features. One is the ability to set up timers for Breakout Rooms that the company introduced last year. Breakout Rooms allowed participants to separate from the main meeting into different sub-meetings. The new feature will allow keepers to set a timer for each Breakout Room after which participants will return to the main meeting, and move between open rooms.

The new feature of Microsoft Teams has been listed on the Microsoft 365 roadmap page as ‘in development’ with a release launched for this month. Organizers will be able to set a timer for Breakout Rooms from the Breakout Rooms settings. As soon as it is over, the rooms will automatically close and the participants will return to the main meeting. Organizers will also be able to move people between open rooms.

“With the ability to reassign participants, the organizer will now be able to move connected partners across rooms and a main meeting as well as when rooms are opened,” Microsoft says in the post on the roadmap page He has Microsoft 365.

Microsoft says the update will also enable room assignments that allow organizers to maintain the same room and group configuration over multiple sessions.

Another feature listed by Microsoft as ‘in development’ and scheduled for notification in March is a new option that has been added to ‘Meeting policies’ settings to allow people in a group only – and not e guests – rather than lobbying the meeting and going into a meeting directly.

In other news related to Microsoft Teams, the company has also listed a low-bandwidth mode that will allow users with bad internet connections to capture the data used during a video call. Microsoft Teams allows users to tweak various network settings to suit current requirements. This feature was also listed or released in March for the Microsoft Teams desktop client.
